Pride Art Exhibition

Pride Art Exhibition 2025
Last year, we proudly hosted Maidstone’s first Pride event at Lockmeadow, featuring a vibrant parade, diverse stalls, and talented performers. This year, we’re taking a different approach by organising a series of smaller Pride events across Maidstone.
One of these events is an art exhibition celebrating local creatives, including queer artists, photographers, and videographers. While Maidstone is home to many talented creatives, opportunities within the local art scene have declined significantly in recent years. This exhibition provides a much-needed platform for LGBTQ+ artists and allies to showcase their work.
To mark the opening, we plan to host a special launch event featuring live performances, artist talks, writers and musicians on Friday 7th June, then the exhibition will be open to the public for a full week between 9;00 AM – 5:30 PM. Entry to the gallery will be free, but we will encourage donations in support of Maidstone Pride and our future events as we are a non-profit organisation supporting the community.
There is no ‘theme’ for this exhibition, however, we encourage entries that explore the following: community, unity, pride, identity.
We welcome all people to enter, and don’t discriminate.
If your submission is successful, you’ll be asked to write a short biography so that we can display it alongside your work on the day. You’ll have the opportunity to discuss the themes in your work then. If you’d like to get involved with artist talks, performances, or even help with invigilation, your support would be greatly appreciated. As a non-profit organisation, we largely depend on volunteers and donations.
A reference will be provided for those who want to use this opportunity as work experience.

I would like to help or take part in this exhibition- How can I help?
We are looking for invigilators for the week of 7th- 14th June. From 8th-14th June ,the hours will be 8:30-5:30, but we greatly appreciate any time you can offer us. If you would like a more proactive role in setting up equipment, or if you can offer any services please reach out to Amy, the operations manager below:

What is an invigilator?
A volunteer invigilator at an art exhibition is someone who helps look after the artworks and makes sure everything runs smoothly. They might welcome visitors, answer basic questions, keep an eye on the displays to make sure nothing gets damaged, and generally help create a friendly and safe environment in the gallery.
Entry Submission Deadline: Friday, 16th May 11 AM
Winners contacted by: Saturday, 24th May 5 PM
